Guess what I got to do today? I got to make help make tamales! It was amazing because most people would think that after last year's tamale making event with the youth that I wouldn't make any more for ages! hee hee. Maybe that was just selling them for a fundraiser, but yeah my parent's decided that they wanted to make tamales today it was very cool. My brother Gabe put on some Cuban music so we were all dancing making tamales, we were trying to teach Dreke some moves but he kept biting us. I like family times like that.
I am way excited because Jason just called me and he wanted me to come visit him in Tuscon because my old roommate from Grand Canyon is going to be in town, Jojo, and Jose. I was kind of bummed because I could have gone to see them all if I didn't have a meeting for student teaching on Thursday of next week. But he promised me that Jojo and Jose would come and hang out with me for New Year's, well I haven't seen Jose in two years we thought he was dead or had moved somewhere. To have all three of the boys together in one place is just to good to be true! I just saw Jojo like two weeks ago he came to visit his brother and he took me to Cheese Cake Factory, and Jason I saw a month or so ago, woo hoo! I am jumping up and down right now!
This has been a good week, I got to talk to my sister and Jen Miller people that I love and miss so much.
Well I hope everyone has a happy holidays! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

This weekend I was studying really hard for a coming up final, I was doing really good I was motivated a couple hours of studying a day, great stuff. Well I get to class ready to go and then I am wondering why the teacher is just talking, then I found out that the test is next week! Haha, I studied a week in advanced, but that's good for me because it will be in my long term memory if I keep going over it.
I can't believe that this semester is almost over, I had to say goodbye to my first grade kids last week and even though I am going to be with them in January I was about to cry because I am going to miss them. Mrs. G told the class that it was my last day and that I am going to be their teacher (kind of) next semester, they all clapped for me, one of the boys was like "congratulations Ms. Cela!" it was cute.
In class on tuesday (college) we were doing presentations and this one guy was doing a lesson on citizenship so he read a book from Max Lucado which was about a land full of puppets who everyday would go around carrying stickers to put on each other. They would have gold stickers for the best puppets and dot stickers for the imperfect ones. Well this one puppet got chipped so everyday he would get a dot, other puppets would give him dots because he wasn't good enough. Well this made him sad because there was nothing he could do to make himself better, well one day he was walking along and he saw this puppet who didn't have any stickers on her whatsoever he was like I want to be like that! So he asked her how she managed to get the stickers to not stick onto her, she said doesn't care what people think about her and that she goes to see the puppet maker every day. He was like the puppet maker? Why? She told him to go and see him to find out for himself. He was like I want to not care about what people think of me so I think I am going to see him. So he goes to see him, he is scared because he is a little puppet and can't see over the desk. The puppet maker called to him as he was just about to leave, the puppet was like, how do you know my name? The puppet maker said, I made you I know all about you. He takes a look at the puppet with all his dots, the puppet looks at him in shame telling him he has tried to be a good puppet but it is hard to not get chipped or loose paint and that the other puppets think poorly of him and it hurts his feelings. The maker said I made you and what I make is beautiful. You are beautifully and wonderfully made, with no blemishes or imperfections. I love you so much because I made you. The puppet couldn't believe his ears, no one had ever said anything like that to him before. The puppet told him that he was sent by the girl puppet and she didn't have any stickers on her because she didn't care about what people thought about her. He told the maker that he wanted to be like that too, but he didn't know how. The maker told him that all he had to do was believe that he (the maker) loved him, no matter what people think, and if he ever forgot about his love to come to visit. But the maker wanted to see his little puppet everyday, so he told him to go and see him to remember his love. As the puppet was leaving he was trying to grasp everything the maker told him, trying to grasp the concept of his love for him then he smiled when he did a dot fell to the ground.
So back to the presentation we got to go around the class giving star stickers to everyone and telling them something nice kind of like affirmations. It was the coolest thing ever. I was able to encourage my classmates even more so, then we got in a circle and did more words of encouragement to each other, it was awesome.
